The Project

The national youth policy applies to young people aged 13-25 and aims to: “All young people should have good living conditions, the power to shape their lives, and influence over societal development.” The prioritized age group in Sorsele is 11-18 years. We are now looking for an engaged, driven, and curious youth consultant for the last of three years in the Youth up North project who wants to help strengthen young people's influence and participation in Sorsele municipality, so that young people want to take a more active role in developing the municipality and contributing to societal development. The working method of the Youth up North project is characterized by entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and innovations. The position is tasked with creating activities and meeting places together with children and young people in the municipality and the municipality's various units, as well as defining goals for the local youth policy.

Job Responsibilities

As a youth consultant, your mission is to increase young people's influence and participation in the municipality, together with children and young people. The work to strengthen young people's influence and participation includes collaborating with the municipality's operations (e.g., libraries, schools, youth centers), businesses, and associations regarding young people's opinions, thoughts, and ideas. The work is outreach, and the tasks involve meeting young people in various ways. This also means supporting the municipality in realizing and implementing ideas and thereby strengthening the local children's rights and youth perspective. Together with young people, you create more meeting places, program points, and events locally, as well as platforms where young people can make their voices heard. Since the tasks largely come from children and young people, it may involve, for example, supporting young people in starting associations, participating in dialogues, helping decision-makers reach young people, and finding forms for activities and meeting places that young people request.

Together with the project team at Youth 2030 Movement and the local steering group with representatives from the municipal organization, you will be responsible for implementing and evaluating efforts within the Youth up North project. You will also participate in networking meetings and knowledge and experience exchanges within the project and at a regional level. We are now approaching the last project year of three, which means that much of the work will focus on trying to tie the project together and create sustainable and long-term structures within the municipality regarding children's and young people's participation and influence.
